Pima is an ELS (extra long staple) cotton, significantly softer, stronger, and longer-lasting that other cottons. Fair Indigo uses non-toxic, Oeko-tex tested safe dyes that are the gentlest commercially available and free from harmful substances like azo colorants, formaldehyde, and pentachlorophenol. While the bag remains as strong as ever during normal use, it breaks down completely in the natural environment, leaving no plastic remnants behind. The bags are 91% degradable within 24 months, breaking down into water, CO2, and a small amount of biomass.
